Great Ape Espresso

Great Ape Espresso is a small outdoor espresso bar set up at the Screen Queensland Studios precinct on Gosport Street in Hemmant, open weekday mornings only. It is a quick coffee stop rather than a sit down cafe, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables while you wait for your order.

The dog setup

There is no indoor seating because it runs as an outdoor coffee container, so the whole customer area is dog friendly by default. Keep dogs leashed and close by at the footpath tables. Water bowls are often put out for passing dogs, though it is worth bringing your own as backup since supply is not guaranteed. No fees or bookings involved.

Worth knowing

The menu is short and does the job: solid espresso, fresh breakfast wraps, toasted sandwiches and smoothies, with juices and frappes in the warmer months. It is a quick stop rather than a lingering brunch, and the crew keep the service fast, which suits the studio and industrial crowd it serves. Hours are Monday to Friday from 6am to 2pm, closed on weekends.

Getting there and parking

Find it at 45 Gosport Street, Hemmant, in the precinct around Screen Queensland Studios, moments off Lytton Road in Brisbane's bayside industrial belt. Free street parking is available along Gosport Street and the surrounding access roads, so pulling up with the dog is easy.
