Chill Gelato Bar

Chill Gelato Bar is a small gelato and coffee shop at Shop 5/44 Landsborough Parade, Golden Beach, sitting right opposite the esplanade on the Pumicestone Passage. It was opened by the same family behind Chill Cafe 89 further along the waterfront, and for dog walkers it works as the natural footpath stop on a foreshore lap.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables out front; there is no indoor seating for pets. Staff will generally bring a water bowl on request, and stopping here mid-walk is a normal pattern for locals doing the esplanade with a dog. The footpath is narrow and shared with prams and other diners, so keep your dog close and leashed at the table.

The vibe

The scoops are award-winning Maleny Food Co gelato and sorbet, with about 24 rotating flavours on display. Mango and macadamia is the top seller, salted caramel has its fans, and there are dairy-free sorbets plus gelato hot chocolates for cooler afternoons. Coffee is Genovese, and milkshakes and jaffles cover the non-gelato orders. Doors open from late morning and it trades into the evening on Friday and Saturday nights.

Getting there and parking

The bar is on Landsborough Parade with street parking along the parade and nearby streets, and the Golden Beach foreshore path is an easy stroll away, so most dog walkers arrive on foot rather than by car.

Close by with the dogs

On-leash foreshore walking runs the length of the parade, and the Currimundi Beach off-leash area a little further south is where dogs can hit the sand legally. The Viridian Circuit Park covers a grassy leg-stretch in the suburb, and Classic Espresso Bar in Caloundra is the coffee alternative for a longer loop.
