Ocean Brew Eatery

Ocean Brew Eatery is a relaxed seaside cafe on Pattison Street in Emu Park, drawing a steady local crowd for quality, locally roasted coffee and a strong gluten-free and vegan menu. The leafy outdoor seating makes it one of the easier Capricorn Coast stops with a dog in tow.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area and on the undercover deck, leashed and settled near your table. Reports vary slightly on how far the welcome extends, so if you have a big or excitable dog it is worth confirming with staff on arrival. Water bowls are put out for dogs and puppuccinos have been known to appear. Keep dogs close given the cafe's popular kids' play area sits nearby.

Worth knowing

The kitchen runs 6:30am to 2pm every day, so this is a breakfast-and-lunch operation rather than an all-day one. Alongside the usual brunch fare there is a genuine gluten-free and vegan range, plus steak sandwiches and a cake cabinet. The breezy, leafy deck is the draw; weekday mornings are the calm window before the weekend brunch crowd builds.

Getting there and parking

Ocean Brew sits in the main part of Emu Park close to the local shops. Parking is free, with street parking out front and more space across the road near the town pool.

Close by with the dogs

Emu Park Main Beach and Fisherman's Beach are both a short walk away for a leg stretch; Livingstone Shire allows leashed dogs on its beaches before 8am and after 4pm, and Fisherman's Beach has an off-leash section north of Bell Park that is excluded on weekends and public holidays. For a fenced run, Lammermoor Dog Park is a short drive north toward Yeppoon. Other dog-friendly coffee stops up the coast include Two Sisters Coffee Bar and Bonjour Mate Patisserie at Zilzie.
