Approval is not automatic on every site or cabin, so declare your pet at booking and confirm with the park before you pay, and ask about pet fees as they vary. Once in the park, the rules are standard: dogs registered at check-in, kept on a short lead within the grounds, never left unattended at the site or cabin, and cleaned up after immediately.

The vibe

This is the relaxed end of the Capricorn Coast compared to the busier Yeppoon parks. Shady sites, a camp kitchen, direct beach access out the front, and boat ramps and fishing spots nearby for owners who want more than a beach walk. Flying foxes move through at dusk, which is part of the show. The location is genuinely walkable: shops, cafes and the Emu Park tavern are all an easy stroll up Pattison Street.

Getting there and the beach rules

The park sits at 67 Pattison Street in the heart of the Emu Park village. The big draw for dog owners is out front: Fisherman's Beach allows dogs off-leash from the access point 150 metres north of Bell Park through to Tanby Point, but that window does not apply on weekends and public holidays, when a lead is required. The main Emu Park Beach and Cooee Bay are on-lead only. Weekday mornings are your best shot at genuine off-leash time.

For coffee, Ocean Brew Eatery is the village pick with the dog tied up nearby. If the park is booked out, the Emu Park Motel is the in-town alternative, and Poinciana Tourist Park at Yeppoon covers the northern end of the coast.
