Bonjour Mate Patisserie

Bonjour Mate Patisserie is a small French style bakery and cafe at 28 Cocoanut Point Drive in Zilzie, baking pastries, bread and quiches in house and pouring coffee from a compact shopfront on the Capricorn Coast. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, 8am to 2pm, and closes Monday and Tuesday.

The dog setup

Seating is outdoors along the front of the shop, and well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome at those tables with you. There is no dedicated dog setup, so bring your own water bowl.

Because this is a new opening with no posted pet policy, it is worth confirming the dog rules on the day. The frontage is casual and the staff are used to four legged callers, but a quick word when you order keeps it easy.

Worth knowing

Everything is made on site: croissants and other French pastries, fresh bread, quiches and sandwiches, all matched with proper coffee. The menu also covers gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options, which is unusual for a patisserie this size.

The entrance and seating are wheelchair accessible and there are restrooms on site, so it works for a slow breakfast or a quick pastry run. Hours are short, 8am to 2pm, so it is a morning play rather than an afternoon stop.

Getting there

The shop sits in the small complex on Cocoanut Point Drive, with free parking directly out front and flat, easy access from car to table. Zilzie is a short drive from Emu Park and about 20 minutes from Yeppoon.

Make a day of it

Pair the pastries with a coffee run further up the coast at Ocean Brew Eatery in Emu Park, or line up a longer trip with an overnight at the Emu Park Motel. The sand and water at Zilzie Bay are close by for a lead walk either side of breakfast.
