The short version. Stomping Ground's Collingwood beer hall is a converted warehouse at 100 Gipps St, and dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden and deck. The draw for dog owners is the retractable roof over the garden, which keeps you and the dog dry or shaded whatever the weather.

The dog setup. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome in the beer garden and deck. Dogs are not allowed inside the main indoor warehouse space. Staff are used to dogs and water bowls are usually around, but bring your own bowl to be safe. Keep your dog on-lead at all times.

Good to know. Thirty-odd taps of in-house beer, casual food including pizza, and a big, lively room that can get loud. It has been a fixture of the Melbourne brewpub scene for years. The noise and crowds suit a settled, social dog more than a nervous one.

Getting there. A short walk from North Richmond Station, or take tram 12 or 109 to the Victoria St stops. Street parking on Gipps St and the side streets is mostly metered or time-limited and fills up on Friday nights and weekends, so walking or public transport is the easier call.

Nearby with the dogs. Gahan Reserve is a few minutes' walk for a quick leg-stretch, and the Smith St and Gertrude St strips nearby have plenty of footpath seating if you want to keep moving.

When to go. Weekday afternoons and early evenings are calmest. Peak Friday and weekend sessions get busy and noisy, so time it earlier if your dog prefers a quieter room.
