Two Tides Cafe

Two Tides Cafe pours specialty coffee and seasonal plates from 3/50 Bulcock Street in central Caloundra, with a relaxed outdoor seating area on the street where well-behaved dogs are welcome. It is a small, community-driven cafe rather than a beachfront circus, which suits a dog that would rather chill than hustle for attention.

Dogs sit with you in the outdoor section along Bulcock Street, and the staff are easygoing with polite pups. Water bowls are available for dogs coming off the coastal paths, and the kerbside setting gives your dog a decent view of street life while you work through the smoothies.

Bulcock Street carries steady foot traffic through the day, so pick a table out of the walkway. Weekend hours stretch later than the weekday close, which makes Sunday the natural slow-morning slot.

Max: a street-side table is free training. My dog earns her puppuccino by holding a down-stay through the prams and seagulls, and Bulcock Street supplies plenty of both.

The vibe

Expect fresh, seasonal food with a coastal accent: bacon-and-egg wraps and smoothies are the things locals reorder. The cafe keeps a calm register compared with the bigger Kings Beach venues a few minutes away, so it works for dogs still building their cafe confidence.

Getting there

The cafe sits on Bulcock Street, Caloundra's main strip, a few minutes' walk from Kings Beach and the foreshore parklands. Street parking runs along Bulcock Street and the surrounding blocks, with council car parks close by; it is about an hour's drive north of Brisbane.

Make a day of it

Burn the energy first at the Currimundi Beach dog off-leash area, or use the fenced Ridgehaven Park Fenced Dog Park for a safer run. Coochin Park at Dicky Beach is another off-lead option on the way in.
