Sachi Coffee

Sachi Coffee is a small Japanese-inspired specialty cafe at 1 Ormuz Avenue in Caloundra, right beside the Post Office a block back from Bulcock Beach. It keeps morning hours only, opening 6:30am weekdays and 7am weekends and closing at midday, so it is a first-thing coffee stop rather than a lunch destination. Dogs are welcome at the footpath seating out front, which makes it a natural pause point on a morning walk through the Caloundra CBD.

The dog setup

The outdoor footpath tables are where dogs go, and they are the social heart of the place on a sunny morning. The space is compact, so it suits a smaller dog or a calm one that is content lying close to the table rather than spreading out across the footpath. Because the venue is tight on room, it is worth bringing your own water bowl rather than counting on one being provided. Locals in the know do a lap of Bowman Park across the road first, then tie on to a table for coffee afterwards.

What they pour

Coffee is the draw: a focused specialty menu done properly, with iced lattes a consistent local favourite. Matcha drinks are done to the same standard, which fits the minimalist Japanese aesthetic of the timber-lined room inside. The pastry cabinet is small but well chosen, with the almond croissant the order people come back for. Do not plan on a full brunch menu; this is a quality-over-quantity stop, and the midday close means the pastries go early on weekends.

Getting there and parking

The address is 1 Ormuz Avenue, Caloundra QLD 4551, next to the Caloundra Post Office near the CBD end of town. Street parking runs along Ormuz Avenue and the surrounding blocks, generally free but time limited, so check the signage. On foot it is an easy walk from Bulcock Street's shops, and the coastal pathway near Bulcock Beach is only a few minutes away for a longer on-lead loop before you head home.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-lead run to burn energy first, Coochin Park Dog Off Leash Area at Dicky Beach is a few minutes north, and Sunshine Coast Council also designates off-leash space around Woorim Park at Golden Beach, south of town. Moffat Beach just past the headland allows off-lead beach access in set hours, typically outside the daytime window, so check the signs on arrival.
