POMPOM CAFE is a small, plant-filled spot on Liverpool Road in Ashfield, the kind of clean modern fitout that has made it popular as a laptop-and-flat-white local. The dog seats are outside, right on the Liverpool Road footpath, which works well for a coffee stop on a suburb walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on a lead. The owners have a reputation for being genuinely dog-friendly and will sometimes bring out treats for well-behaved pups, but this is a busy road frontage, so keep the lead short and tuck your dog tight against the table. No water bowl is guaranteed; bring your own travel bowl on warm days.

Worth knowing

The menu is compact and coffee-led: matcha lattes, flat whites and a short food list, with free wifi pulling in the working crowd. Hours run 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 3pm Saturday, with Sunday off, so it is a weekday plan. It is a small space indoors, and the few outside tables fill first on fine mornings.

Getting there and parking

Liverpool Road is Ashfield's main strip, a short walk from Ashfield station, and street parking on the surrounding side streets is the usual option if you drive. Buses run straight along Liverpool Road.

Close by with the dogs

Eastfield Fenced Dog Park at Croydon gives the dog a proper run before or after coffee, and The Granary Cafe at Summer Hill is a bigger dog-friendly brunch option one suburb over. Excelsior Jones is the established Ashfield cafe on the same strip.
