What visitors mention
Eastfield Fenced Dog Park is the standout secure off-leash spot in Maroondah, a large fully fenced enclosure at the southern end of Eastfield Park with double-gated entry, agility gear and a separate small-dog area. If you want a contained run rather than relying on recall, this is the Croydon pick.
The rules. The main enclosure is off-leash and fully fenced with a double-gate airlock. Maroondah City Council asks that dogs are vaccinated, over six months old, under supervision and voice control, with a maximum of two dogs per person. Toys are not permitted inside the fence and only hidden treats are allowed, which keeps resource-guarding flare-ups down. Outside the fence, dogs must be on-leash everywhere else in Eastfield Park.
What's there. The enclosure runs roughly 180m by 40m over grass, sand and rock, with trees and mounds to break it up. There is agility equipment (hurdles, an inverted V ramp, a tunnel and weave poles), a water tap and bowl, shaded seating and bins. A separate fenced timeout area with a sandpit suits nervous, quiet or smaller dogs. A playground sits adjacent to the east gate.
Getting there. It is on Eastfield Road, Croydon, at the southern end of Eastfield Park, with parking along the perimeter and in bays on Eastfield Road. Buses run along Maroondah Highway and Croydon Road. The park connects directly to the Tarralla Creek Trail if you want to extend the outing.
Watch-outs. It is genuinely popular and can get crowded and high-energy on sunny weekends. Council recommends leaving young children out of the off-leash area.
When to go. Weekday mornings and mid-week evenings are calmest. Saturday afternoons and sunny weekends are the busiest. If the main yard is too chaotic for your dog, the small-dog timeout area is the quieter fallback. Good for dogs who need a secure space and a structured play session.
