The Granary Cafe Summer Hill

The Granary Cafe is a community-focused breakfast and lunch spot in the Flour Mill precinct at Unit 107/5 Mungo Scott Place, Summer Hill, trading 7am to 2:30pm every day. Its covered outdoor courtyard, set back from the roads beside the precinct gardens, makes it one of the easier dog-friendly sits in the Inner West.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the courtyard, and the cafe has a habit of putting out water bowls and the occasional treat for canine regulars. Keep the dog leashed and settled at your table: the plaza is pedestrian-friendly but the courtyard fills on weekends, and prams and dogs share the same floor space.

The vibe

A loyal local crowd comes for generous plates, hash browns, mushrooms on toast, chilli scrambled eggs, chai lattes and batch brew coffee. Service runs breakfast through lunch, and weekend brunch gets busy fast, so a weekday morning is the calm window for a dog that prefers quiet.

Max: the courtyard is undercover but open-sided, so on a cold morning ask for the table nearest the heaters and your dog will still be comfortable.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is an easy walk from Summer Hill station and the light rail stop, and for locals the walk-in option beats driving: street parking exists around the Flour Mill but fills quickly on weekends.

Close by with the dogs

Flour Mill Park sits right outside the cafe for a stretch of the legs before or after coffee, and Lewisham West dog off-leash area is the nearest proper off-lead run, one stop down the line.
