A coffee van trading out of the Climb West Melbourne facility at 193 Maidstone Street, Altona. It is a laid-back, community stop rather than a sit-down cafe, with all the seating outside, which suits a coffee run with the dog on the way to or from a walk.

The dog setup. Because the van serves from inside an indoor climbing gym, dogs stay in the outdoor and footpath seating right by the van while you order. Water bowls are often put out, but bring a portable bowl to be safe. Casual outdoor tables let you settle in with the dog beside you.

Good to know. Known for barista coffee and hot chocolates, pressed toasties and toasted bagels, plus smoothies and quick snacks. Open seven days from mid-morning.

Getting there. Plenty of street parking along Maidstone Street and the surrounding commercial strip. Altona and Seaholme stations are each roughly a 15 to 20 minute walk. The Bay Trail West shared path is close by, so it works well as a stop mid-walk.

Nearby with the dogs. The Altona Beach off-leash area is a short drive or an active walk, with shallow water and an off-leash section to burn off energy before the coffee.

An easy grab-and-go stop if you are already out walking the shared path.
