Hosken Reserve Dog Off Leash Area sits at 483 Blackshaws Road, Altona North, alongside the Kororoit Creek corridor. It is off-leash around the clock, seven days a week, with recently upgraded amenities including a dog-bowl drinking fountain and a picnic shelter. Unlike a dedicated fenced dog park, only part of the reserve is fenced, so it best suits dogs with dependable recall.

The dog setup

Off-leash access applies at all times, with dogs under effective voice or hand control throughout. A lead is required within 15 metres of the playground, the BBQ area and any organised sport, and dogs stay out of the playground entirely. For a fully fenced run, the P A Burns Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Altona is the secure alternative, and the Newport Lakes Park Dog Off Leash Area is a good bigger outing. Bezirk Cafe in Altona and Jimmy The Van both do dog-friendly outdoor seating for the coffee after.
