McIvor Reserve Fenced Dog Park

McIvor Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced, roughly 9,100 square metre off-leash area on Wattle Road in Yarraville, set inside the larger McIvor Reserve. It combines open grass with a rocky hill for dogs who like to climb and sniff, plus mature trees for shade, and it backs onto extra off-leash space in the wider reserve once your dog earns some freedom outside the fence.

The rules. Inside the fence, dogs can run off-leash under effective control. Keep dogs on-leash within 30 metres of the children's playground, and off-leash play is not permitted on the reserve's soccer, hockey or baseball fields, especially while games or training are underway. Check all double gates are closed behind you, they are the usual escape point.

What's there. A water tap with bowls, a park seat near the rocky mound, and bins with bag dispensers near the entrances. Shade comes from established trees rather than built structures, so bring your own shelter on hot days if your dog needs it.

Getting there. The park sits at Wattle Road, Yarraville VIC 3013, reachable via Somerville Road or Williamstown Road, with street parking along Wattle Road. Yarraville Station is about a 20 to 30 minute walk, so this one is really a drive or cycle destination rather than a train trip.

Nearby with the dogs. Yarraville Village and Seddon both have cafes with dog-friendly outdoor seating a short drive away, and there are pet-friendly stays scattered through the inner west if you're making a day of it.

Weekday mid-morning or early afternoon is the calmest window, before-work and after-work hours (roughly 7.30 to 9am and 4.30 to 6pm) plus weekends draw the biggest crowds.
