Charteris Wines is a boutique cellar door inside Peppers Creek Village at 1946 Broke Road, pouring high-end wines from winemaker PJ Charteris in a rustic, antique-timbered room. It is exceptionally dog-friendly, welcoming well-behaved dogs both inside and out across the village surrounds.

Where the dog goes. Friendly dogs are welcome inside the cellar door and outside in the charming Peppers Creek Village grounds. Keep yours under control and preferably on a lead, especially if other dogs are about, since it is a shared village space. Water bowls are often available, though packing your own treats is wise.

What is there. Polished boutique wines, with the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling the ones to seek out, served in a cosy, intimate room full of antique materials. Cafe Enzo in the same village offers dog-friendly outdoor seating if you want a bite alongside.

Getting there. Peppers Creek Village, 1946 Broke Road, with ample on-site parking just steps from the tasting room and flat, easy access to the door.

When to go. The shared village is quieter mid-week, which keeps a dog calmer than a busy weekend. A milder part of the day suits the outdoor village setting in summer.
