Ngeringa Vineyards & Cellar Door

Ngeringa Vineyards & Cellar Door is a certified biodynamic farm and winery on the slopes of Mount Barker Summit in the Adelaide Hills, roughly 30 minutes from Adelaide. Dogs are a genuine drawcard here: they are welcome inside the cellar door and in the outdoor seating areas, making it a proper tasting-room experience you can share with your dog rather than an outdoor-only compromise.

The dog setup

Dogs have been welcomed in both the indoor cellar door and the outdoor seating, with a relaxed, intimate room that suits a dog happy to settle while you taste. Keep your dog on a lead at all times: this is an active agricultural property with sheep roaming the farm, so a short leash is non-negotiable regardless of how steady your dog is. Water and treats are not guaranteed, so bring your own, though staff are generally accommodating given the farm's friendly character. Mention your dog when you book so there are no surprises on busy weekends.

Worth knowing

The wines are certified biodynamic across the Single Vineyard and Sheoak labels, with the Summit Vineyard renowned for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Tastings are guided, with wines by the glass and light seasonal snacks sourced from the property. The farm goes well beyond vines, with a heritage orchard and livestock reflecting a real regenerative-agriculture focus. Open weekends only, 11am to 4pm, so plan around that.

Max: sheep share this working farm, so the lead stays on. Livestock and loose dogs do not mix, no matter how good the recall.

Getting there and parking

Ngeringa is at 107 Williams Road, Mount Barker Summit, with on-site parking at the cellar door. The drive up through the hills is short from Mount Barker township, where the practical dog infrastructure sits.
