S.C. Pannell is winemaker Stephen Pannell's modern cellar door on Olivers Road, set on an elevated estate with views across the vines and hills. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor spaces, so you can taste with the dog resting beside you on the veranda or lawn.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome outdoors, on the open verandas, the adjacent courtyard and the surrounding lawns, but not inside the enclosed tasting room. Outdoor seating should be booked. Water bowls are typically provided around the outdoor areas. Keep your dog on-lead and happy to settle quietly near the table.

Known for. Pioneering Mediterranean varieties in McLaren Vale, with standout grenache, tempranillo and touriga alongside expressive syrah, all made to pair with food.

Getting there. The address is 60 Olivers Road, McLaren Vale, about 45 minutes south of the Adelaide CBD via the Southern Expressway. There is ample free on-site parking by the cellar door.

Nearby with the dogs. Onkaparinga River National Park has on-lead bushwalking trails a short drive away, the fenced McMurtrie Street dog park in the township is handy for burning energy, and Samuel's Gorge and Chalk Hill are dog-friendly cellar doors nearby.

When to go. Open Friday to Monday, 11am to 5pm. Book the outdoor table ahead, especially on weekends. Tire the dog at the nearby dog park first if you want a relaxed seated tasting.
