What visitors mention
Oxenberry Farm is a family-run vineyard and farm on Kangarilla Road, and its standout feature for dog owners is that it sits directly on the Shiraz Trail, so you can walk the dog in and tie up the visit with a stroll. The casual lawns and shaded outdoor seating make it an easy stop.
The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard, on the lawns and during seated tastings in the shaded outdoor areas. Pets stay in the outdoor seating rather than the indoor shop (service dogs aside). The venue offers complimentary water for dogs. Keep your dog on-lead throughout.
Known for. A diverse, characterful range including an unusual 20-varietal NV red, casual platters and a relaxed atmosphere with seating under the trees and on the lawn.
Getting there. The address is 24-26 Kangarilla Road, McLaren Vale, just outside the township. There is on-site parking, and you can also walk or cycle in via the Shiraz Trail. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
Nearby with the dogs. The Shiraz Trail runs right past for an on-lead walk, Harry's Deli at Wirra Wirra is a popular dog-friendly stop nearby, and several other cellar doors welcome dogs in their outdoor areas.
When to go. Weekday mornings are quietest. Combine it with a Shiraz Trail walk to tire the dog before a seated tasting. The shaded outdoor seating helps on hot days.
