Kimbolton Wines

Kimbolton Wines runs its cellar door from repurposed shipping containers on Burleigh Street in Langhorne Creek, about 55 minutes from Adelaide, with a rooftop deck looking over the vines. It is a relaxed, family-oriented stop that rolls out the welcome for dogs properly, from water bowls to a wall of canine fame.

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor seated areas, the grassy lawn and the ground-level deck, with the indoor tasting room best treated as off-limits, so plan to sit outside. Leads on and supervision throughout. Staff put out fresh water bowls and shaded spots to rest, dog treats are available to buy at the counter, and well-photographed pups can end up pinned to the Kimbolton Canine Club wall. The lawn is the pick for a dog that wants to sprawl while a tasting flight does its work.

The vibe

The reputation rests on reds: Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, with fiano and other whites covering the warm afternoons. Doors open 11am to 4pm daily except selected public holidays.

The address is 29 Burleigh Street, Langhorne Creek, reached off the Bremerton Road end of the township. Parking is free and on-site, with wheelchair-accessible access to the ground-level deck.

Lake Breeze Wines is a short drive up the road for a second tasting, and Strathalbyn is about ten minutes off, where the Angas River Walk makes a good lead-on stretch before heading home. For an overnight base, Strath Motel puts you between the river and the wine region.
