Strath Motel

Strath Motel is a modern motel on Strathalbyn's main street in the heart of the Fleurieu's heritage country towns, and its pet setup is unusually deliberate for a country motel: two dedicated pet-friendly rooms with tiled floors and a private courtyard each, rather than a grudging yes on quiet nights.

Dogs at the Strath Motel

The two pet rooms, a standard king and a triple with king singles, are ground floor and wheelchair accessible, with a private outdoor terrace off the room and pet comforts included. The published pet fee is $30 per pet per night, subject to management approval. House rules are straightforward: dogs on a secure leash on motel grounds, toileting in the outdoor grassed areas, pets not left unattended, and off the beds and indoor seating. Tiled floors make the inevitable towel-off simple.

The place

All 23 rooms sit on the ground floor with parking at the door, so the evening toilet run is a short walk rather than a hallway mission. Rooms are modern and quiet, with comfortable beds, 55-inch smart TVs and daily servicing, and guests regularly single out the welcoming staff.

Max: only two rooms take pets, so book early and book by phone. A third-party site cannot guarantee you the right room.

Getting there

The motel sits on the main street of Strathalbyn, about an hour's drive from Adelaide and an easy base for Langhorne Creek wine country. You can walk to the shops, the River Angas and the Soldiers Memorial Gardens for on-lead wanders, and the Robin Hood Hotel takes dogs at its footpath tables for dinner.
