Johnstone Park Fenced Dog Park

Johnstone Park's fenced dog park sits within the larger Johnstone Park complex on the corner of 6th Street and Maurice Road, central Murray Bridge. The draw is a secure, fully fenced run with separate sections for large and small dogs, so you can let yours off-leash without watching the gate.

The rules. Inside the fence dogs can be off-leash, but they must stay under effective voice control at all times. Doggy-doo bag dispensers are provided and picking up after your dog is required. What's there. Expansive open lawns good for fetch, mature trees giving real shade, and benches for owners. There is agility equipment, though it is not regularly sanitised. Council bins and bag stations are on site. Note that on-site taps can be unreliable, so bring your own water and bowl.

Getting there. Access is off 6th Street or Maurice Road in a central residential and commercial pocket of town. Plenty of on-site parking, plus wheelchair-accessible parking and paths. Local bus routes through central Murray Bridge stop near Maurice Road at 6th Street.

Nearby with the dogs. Sturt Reserve and the riverfront walking paths are a short drive away for a longer leg-stretch. Several cafes along Bridge Street have outdoor seating, though it is worth calling ahead to confirm dogs are welcome that day.

Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings are the busiest. For a quieter run aim for a weekday daytime visit, or a sunny morning when the shade is still going and the crowd is thin. Good for sociable dogs who want room to run.
