Tailem Bend Dog Park

Tailem Bend Dog Park is a fully fenced, off-leash park on Railway Terrace, right by the town rotunda and an easy stop on the Adelaide to Melbourne run. It has agility equipment, shade and a double-gated entrance, which makes it a genuinely useful break for road-tripping dogs, not just a token patch of grass.

The rules. The fenced area is designated off-leash, but dogs must be leashed anywhere outside it in the Coorong District. Owners need to stay with their dogs the whole time, clean up after them, and remove aggressive dogs immediately.

What's there. Full perimeter fencing, a double-gated entry so dogs cannot bolt when you arrive or leave, agility equipment, shaded seating, a water station, and lighting for evening visits.

Getting there. It sits on Railway Terrace at the Adelaide end of town, just off the Dukes Highway, near the rotunda. Free parking is available close by, which suits caravans and trailers passing through.

Nearby with the dogs. HWY-1 Cafe Pizzeria on Princes Highway has alfresco seating that welcomes dogs, and Old Tailem Town Pioneer Village allows leashed dogs if you want to make a longer stop of it.

Expect it busiest around midday and early afternoon when highway traffic peaks, especially on long weekends. Early mornings and weekdays are quieter and better suited to dogs that do not love a crowd of new sniffs at once.
