Morphett Flora and Fauna Reserve

Morphett Flora and Fauna Reserve is 18.3 hectares of heritage-listed bush at Woods Point, just outside Murray Bridge. It is a quiet, sandy walk for dogs on a lead, among more than 170 native plant species.

Lead rules

Dogs are welcome but must stay on a lead in this conservation reserve, which the Rural City of Murray Bridge manages.

The walk

A 2.1 km path runs around the perimeter, and a 1.6 km loop goes through the middle past 20 interpretive signs. Walkers often add about 1.5 km by carrying on through Woods Point.

The tracks are natural sand, fine on foot but no good for bikes or wheelchairs. Birdlife is the main entertainment.

Before you set off

There is very little on site, so carry water and waste bags. The nearest toilets are at Woods Point Hall on Arthur Street.

Make a day of it

Back in Murray Bridge, Rocky Gully Wetlands is another nature walk, and Johnstone Park Fenced Dog Park is there for an off-lead run.

When to go

Sand holds the heat, so cooler mornings are best. It suits calm dogs and owners who want a quiet walk more than a social one.
