St George's Bakehouse - Murray Bridge

St George's Bakehouse is a bakery and coffee stop inside the Murray Bridge Marketplace on South Terrace. It is a pies-and-pastries counter rather than a sit-down cafe, and because it sits within a shopping centre, dogs are limited to the outdoor areas around the entrance; only assistance dogs go through the doors.

Worth confirming the current outdoor seating with staff on arrival, since shopping-centre frontages change.

The draw is the bakehouse range: traditional and gourmet pies, pasties and sausage rolls, fresh donuts and danishes, slices and eclairs, plus sourdough toasties, big breakfast plates and barista coffee. It trades 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday, with the kitchen typically closing around 3pm, so lunch runs to a deadline.

Getting there

Find it at T42/21-53 South Terrace within the Marketplace, with ample free parking in the centre car park and flat access from the car park to the exterior entrance, which keeps the dog leg of the trip simple.

Close by with the dogs

Sturt Reserve and the riverfront paths along the Murray are a short drive for an on-lead walk. For an actual run, the fenced Johnstone Park dog park has separate large and small dog zones, agility equipment and a water tap, and White Park is the town's other fenced option.

Best as a quick stop on a river day rather than a destination. Keep the lead short near the car park.
