Sturt Reserve

Sturt Reserve sits on the Murray River in Murray Bridge, right next door to Riverglades, and its flat loop of about 1.7 km is one of the easiest river walks in town.

Lead rules

The Rural City of Murray Bridge requires dogs on lead throughout Sturt Reserve, and owners must pick up after them.

If your dog needs a run, the council's off-leash areas are at separate parks, such as Avoca Dell Reserve and Tumbella Drive Reserve.

The walk

A concrete path with some sealed roadside sections takes you past wide lawns, playgrounds and constant views of the river. It is level all the way and works for prams, wheelchairs and older dogs.

Expect company. This is the town's social hub, busy with walkers, bikes and families.

Water and shade

Drinking fountains and bins are spread through the reserve, and mature trees and shade shelters give spots to rest. Parking sits beside the main areas and the boat ramps.

Make a day of it

Add the Riverglades Wetland Trail for a quieter wetland stretch, or let the dog run at White Park Fenced Dog Park.

Mornings are calmest, before the playgrounds and barbecue areas fill up.
