Passel Estate

Passel Estate is a quiet, family-owned vineyard at 655 Ellen Brook Road, south-west of Cowaramup, and it markets itself openly as a dog-friendly winery. The cellar door sits alongside a private nature sanctuary on a bushland block, with a covered deck that is built for exactly this kind of relaxed, leash-on visit.

Dogs at Passel Estate

Dogs on a lead are welcome both inside the tasting room and out on the covered, dog-friendly deck, with water bowls provided for visiting dogs. Resident dogs Charlie and Margot are often about, so a sociable dog will feel at home. The lead rule is firm for a good reason: the property borders a wildlife sanctuary that protects local fauna, including the western ringtail possum, so keep the lead clipped on even if your dog is usually reliable off it.

Worth knowing

This is a small-batch, single-vineyard operation with a strong reputation and five-star Halliday recognition. The signature experience is a guided wine and cheese tasting, $26 per person with $2 from every booking going to the estate's conservation projects, paired with handmade farmhouse cheese from Cambray Cheese in Nannup. Wine and chocolate pairings and a larger platter built on local produce are also on offer. Doors open daily from 10:30am to 5pm, and the covered deck is the best seat in warm or showery weather.

Max: the wildlife sanctuary next door is why the lead rule is strict here, so keep it on the whole visit.

Getting there and parking
