Gracetown Oval

Gracetown Oval sits on Salter Road, and the reason to come is that it is a year-round off-lead dog exercise area. It sits in the small coastal townsite beside the community hall.

Leads and closures

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River designates the oval as an off-lead exercise area all year. It closes to dogs now and then for community events or emergency services training, so watch for notices.

The walk

The loop follows mown turf around the field edge, with earth and gravel ground around the grounds. Native coastal plants and glimpses of the coast surround it.

Trees on the perimeter give partial shade, but much of the oval is open to sun and wind.

Before you go

Parking is next to the Gracetown Recreation Hall. Dog water points and bag dispensers are thin on the ground, so bring water, a bowl and bags.

Add a beach run

Gracetown Beach allows dogs off lead from Cowaramup Brook south to the rocks beside Percy Street. The northern section, from the brook to the boat ramp, is off limits to dogs.

The oval suits a quick morning or evening run for dogs with good recall.
