Edwards Wines

Edwards Wines is a relaxed, spacious cellar door on Ellen Brook Road in Cowaramup, listed among the Margaret River region's dog-friendly wineries and best known for the vintage yellow Tiger Moth aircraft parked inside the tasting room. It is an easy, well-set-up stop with plenty of outdoor room for a leashed dog and a view over the vines.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome across the outdoor seating areas and spacious grounds overlooking the vineyard, which is where the deck-and-lawn experience lives anyway. The indoor tasting room houses the aircraft and gets busy, so check with staff before bringing your dog inside rather than assuming. It is a working vineyard, so the lead stays on throughout.

Worth knowing

The signature is the 1943 Tiger Moth, flown out from London by the founder, alongside cool-climate, ocean-matured cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and chardonnay. Gourmet platters of local WA produce are made for the deck, which is also where your dog will be most comfortable. The cellar door opens daily from 10.30am to 5pm, so unlike many neighbours there is no weekend-only squeeze.

Max: pick a fine day and treat the deck as your table. The plane is worth seeing inside, but a leashed dog and a platter out over the vines is the better half of the visit.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door sits at 687 Ellen Brook Road, centrally placed between Cowaramup, Margaret River and Gracetown, with on-site parking directly outside the door and flat access from car to deck.

Pair it with

Cowaramup town centre is about five minutes back down the road for a walk among the cow statues and a casual stop at Peacetree Wines, and Cape Grace Wines sits on the same Ellen Brook Road stretch. The Gracetown beaches are a short drive, but check council signage for designated dog zones before letting the lead off.
