Juniper Wines

Juniper Estate, listed here as Juniper Wines, is one of the original Margaret River vineyards, with vines dating back to 1973 and a cosy cellar door at 98 Tom Cullity Drive in Cowaramup. It is a strong pick for dog owners: the established cottage gardens and lawns are the real draw, and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome across them.

Dogs on a lead are welcome both out across the gardens and lawns and inside the cellar door, so you are covered whatever the weather. Outside there are picnic tables and room to spread a rug on the grass while your dog settles in; the team has a reputation for being welcoming to pets. Bring your own water bowl to be safe, and keep the lead on while other tasters move around the gardens.

Tastings run through the premium estate-grown range, with chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon the standouts, and grazing boards with local produce available to match. A museum room pours carefully cellared back vintages, and a fire keeps the indoor corner snug in winter. Bookings go through the online portal and are recommended; groups larger than six need to email the cellar door directly. Hours are 11am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on weekends, with Monday listed as closed on the booking portal, so double-check before a Monday visit.

Getting there and parking

Turn off Bussell Highway onto Tom Cullity Drive, between Cowaramup and Margaret River; the cellar door sits back from the road next to the historic Wilyabrup vineyard block, with Wilyabrup Brook along the edge. Parking is on site in front of the cellar door and gardens.
