Juniper Wines

Juniper Estate, listed here as Juniper Wines, is one of the original Margaret River vineyards, with a cosy heritage cellar door set among established cottage gardens on Tom Cullity Drive, Cowaramup. It is a dog-friendly stop with room to settle on the lawn, and the gardens are the real reason to bring the dog along.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on a lead, both inside the cellar door and out across the cottage gardens and lawns. Outside you can sit at the picnic tables or spread a rug on the grass while your dog stretches out. The team is known as pet-friendly, but bring your own water bowl and treats to be sure your dog is set up.

Good to know. The vines here date to 1973, and the estate is well regarded for premium, award-winning wines including chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon. Reviewers praise the gardens, the friendly service and cheese or grazing boards, with a fire going in winter for a snug afternoon.

Getting there. It is on Tom Cullity Drive off Bussell Highway, between Margaret River and Cowaramup, tucked back from the main road. On-site parking is available in front of the cellar door and gardens.

Nearby with the dogs. Cowaramup Brewing Company is close by with a large dog-friendly lawn, and other dog-friendly cellar doors sit within a few minutes. It slots neatly into a leisurely tasting loop through the area.

Being set back and garden-focused, it rewards a slow, seated visit over a quick tick-off. Confirm hours before a special trip, and aim for the gardens on a fine day or the fireside indoors when it turns cold.
