What visitors mention
Main & Cherry Cellar Door sits on Grants Gully Road in Chandlers Hill, a family-owned cellar door with sweeping views over vineyards and Gulf St Vincent. Dogs are welcome on the undercover deck and the lawns, on lead, which makes it an easy stop for a wine flight and a platter without leaving the dog in the car.
The dog setup. Dogs are allowed on the large undercover deck and the sprawling lawn areas, where lawn games are also set up. Indoors is restaurant seating and not dog territory, as is standard. Keep dogs leashed throughout, including on the lawn. Water bowls are usually out, but bring your own just in case on a busy day.
Known for. Boutique Mediterranean-style wines (Fiano, Grenache, Shiraz), tapas-style sharing plates, and a relaxed, modern space that opened in 2022. The view over the vines toward the coast is the drawcard.
Getting there. It's at 60 Grants Gully Road, about 30-40 minutes from the Adelaide CBD in the northern pocket of McLaren Vale wine country. On-site parking is available. Weekends get busy, so book a table ahead if you want to guarantee deck seating.
Nearby with the dogs. Watkins Cellar Door is directly across the road and also welcomes leashed dogs on its terrace, so the two make an easy double stop. Shepherds Hill Recreation Park is a short drive away for a proper leg-stretch and leash walk before or after.
When to go. Weekday visits are calmer if you want the lawn to yourselves; weekends bring the crowds and the lawn games. Good for dogs that settle on a lead while you eat, less suited to dogs that need to be off lead.
