Little Yarra Riverside Walk

The walk listed as Yarra Junction Park Loop is known locally as the Little Yarra Riverside Walk, a 1-kilometre loop in Yarra Junction beside the Little Yarra River. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

Yarra Ranges Council requires dogs on a leash on public walking tracks and in parks unless an area is signed off lead. On this walk, keep the lead on the whole way, including near the reserve and playground.

The walk

The loop is roughly rectangular, following the Park Road and rail trail corridor. Surfaces are mixed, with gravel and dirt trail alongside formed paths.

Expect river views, community ovals and art sculptures, with native trees giving shade in patches.

Getting started

Parking is by the main recreation reserves near the township. Bins sit near the parking and playground, and taps are hit and miss, so bring water and a bowl.

For off-lead time, Wesburn Park Dog Off Leash Area is nearby. The Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail also runs through town for a longer walk on lead.

When to go

At about a kilometre, it is a quick outing any time of day, good for puppies and older dogs.
