What visitors mention
Wesburn Park Dog Off Leash Area sits in the south-west corner of the broader Wesburn Park reserve, right on the Warburton Highway in the Yarra Valley. The drawcard is a dedicated rectangular gravel strip with an eight-element agility course, paired with a grassy open run with young shade trees. If your dog enjoys structured equipment and you want a no-frills suburban spot to work them, this is the practical choice.
The rules. Only the designated south-west corner is off-leash. The rest of Wesburn Park, including the sports ovals, the playground, and the equestrian facilities, requires dogs on lead. Dogs are not permitted in the equestrian event areas or on the ovals at all. There is a waste bin near the parking area, and owners are expected to clean up after their dogs.
What's there. The off-leash zone has two parts: the gravel agility rectangle with eight obstacles, and a larger grassy area with scattered young trees for patchy shade. A water tap with a dog bowl is available, plus a couple of seats for owners. Parking is near the park entrance, and public toilets are located by the playground in the main park, a short walk away.
Getting there. The park fronts the Warburton Highway in Wesburn, with straightforward driving access from Yarra Junction or Warburton. Bus routes run along the highway, but a car is the realistic way to get here.
Watch-outs. The off-leash area is not completely fenced, and the Warburton Highway runs close to the park boundary. Dogs without solid recall need active supervision, particularly near the road side of the zone.

Making a day of it. The Yarra Valley has a few dog-friendly options within a short drive. The Yarra Valley Wine Co. Store & Bar in Warburton is worth a stop, with outdoor space where dogs are welcome. If you are staying overnight, Doon Reserve Caravan Park and Tarrango Ranch Bed & Breakfast, both in Yarra Junction, offer dog-accommodating stays.
Weekdays are generally quiet, with Tuesday and Friday afternoons among the most peaceful slots. Sunday mornings and afternoons draw the biggest crowds, along with some weekday evenings. If the agility gravel is occupied, head for the grassy section for more room. It is not a park where you can switch off given the road and fencing, but for a structured session or a midweek run-around, it does the job well.
