Yallambie Park

Yallambie Park runs along the Plenty River in Yallambie, and much of it works as an off-lead reserve. That makes it a rare riverside spot where your dog can stretch out, as long as you respect the path rules.

Leads and the off-lead area

Banyule City Council treats the park generally as a dog off-lead space. On the designated shared paths, and within 5 metres of them, dogs must be on lead.

The lead also goes on near sensitive environmental areas where the signs say so.

The walk

The loop follows the river on a mix of dirt and gravel track, with sealed shared-trail sections. The corridor is tree-lined, and eastern grey kangaroos and plenty of birdlife gather here.

Max: Kangaroos use this river flat too. If your dog likes to chase, the lead is the right call.

Make a day of it

Plentiville Cafe in Lower Plenty is close for a coffee. Cheverton Valley Park Dog Off Leash Area is another off-lead option nearby.

When to go

The natural tracks suit dogs that like a proper sniff, while the shared paths bring bikes and runners, so stay alert near them. Bring water for the dog.
