Plentiville Cafe

Plentiville Cafe is a relaxed all-day brunch spot at 81 Main Road, Lower Plenty, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor, footpath-side seating. It sits a short walk from the Plenty River Trail, which makes it a natural coffee stop either side of a riverside walk in Melbourne's north-east.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the alfresco seating outside; the indoor dining room stays people-only under food safety rules. Staff are good with dogs and will usually bring out a water bowl for a warm pup under the table, and reviews consistently mention attentive service for owners walking dogs. There is no surcharge for bringing one along.

The vibe and the menu

The brunch menu rotates seasonally but the regulars hold steady: the smashed avo on sweet potato rosti, chilli scramble, bacon and egg muffins, big breakfasts, crispy skin salmon and a southern-style chicken burger, plus matcha and cold-pressed juices on the drinks side and solid specialty coffee. Hours run 6:30am to 2:30pm weekdays, 7am Saturdays and 7:30am Sundays. Weekday mornings are the quiet window; weekend brunch fills fast, so arrive early for an outdoor table.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is on Main Road in Lower Plenty, with a free on-site lot plus street parking along Main Road and the side streets. Local buses run along Main Road if you would rather skip the car. Parking tightens during weekend brunch hours.

The Plenty River Trail is the obvious pairing, and the Cheverton Valley Park Dog Off Leash Area sits in the same suburb for the off-lead run. The Banyule Flats off-leash area is nearby, the Banyule Flats loop covers a longer walk, and Manx Cafe in Montmorency is a good second stop.
