Wombolano Sensory Trail

More than 7 hectares of remnant bushland surround the Wombolano Sensory Trail in Wombolano Park, with a wetland boardwalk and signs that invite you to stop, touch and listen. Dogs are welcome, but only on lead.

Lead rules

Maroondah City Council requires dogs to be on a lead at all times in the park, because the native plants and wildlife are protected.

The walk

There are two ways round, a short boardwalk loop through the wetland and a longer gravel circuit around the edge of the bush. The paths are well signed and kept in good order, though a few parts have moderate slopes.

The bush canopy keeps most of the route shaded. The car park at the main entry leads straight to the start of the sensory trail and boardwalk.

There are toilets, bins and a picnic shelter near the playground, but no drinking tap anywhere in the park. Bring water for everyone.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run, Knaith Road Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is nearby, and for a coffee there is Bedford Coffee Co.

Calm and shady, this is a good place for on-lead practice and slow sniffing walks. It suits puppies learning manners and older dogs on warm days.
