Waterworth Park

Waterworth Park sits where Wolli Creek meets the tidal Cooks River, a spread of sports fields on Bayview Avenue with the river shared path along its edge. Dogs join the walk on a lead.

Leads and where to run

City of Canterbury Bankstown requires dogs to stay on a lead throughout the park and on the shared paths. Off-lead exercise belongs in the council's designated areas elsewhere.

Along the river

The paved path is part of the Cooks River cycleway network, wide and continuous enough for a long on-lead walk or a jog. Mature trees and shaded seats line parts of the open space.

Bins are spread through the grounds and near the fields. Water for dogs is hit and miss, so carry some.

On-site parking is near the sports grounds on Bayview Avenue.

Hughes Park Fenced Dog Park is the nearby off-lead option, and Cooks Cafe in Canterbury is good for a coffee.

It works well for regular morning and afternoon strolls, and for dogs who like open views over the water away from heavy traffic.
