Trigg Bushland Reserve

Trigg Bushland Reserve protects old coastal dunes and tall tuart trees in Trigg and Karrinyup, well west of Osborne Park. It offers a 2.7 km loop, and dogs must be on a lead.

Lead rules

Older trail notes mention off-lead walking, but the City of Stirling now asks that dogs stay on a lead at all times in the reserve. Quendas live in the bush here, so keep dogs close.

The walk

Allow about an hour. The surface is mostly firm, with short sandy patches, steep gravel hills and some stairs.

Tuart, jarrah, marri and banksia give partial shade, and in season you will see wildflowers and orchids. Some stretches catch full sun and sea views.

Before you set off

There is no water on the loop, so carry some. Dog bags and bins are at points along the trail, though fewer in the denser dunes.

Street parking is around Bournemouth Parade and Peet Crescent, and it fills on beach days.

Max: Snakes come out in the warmer months. Keep the lead short and your dog on the path.

When to go

Cool mornings in spring give wildflowers without the heat. The hills and sand suit fit dogs more than older ones.
