Canteen Trigg

Canteen Trigg is a busy wholefoods cafe at 364 West Coast Drive, sitting right in the dunes above Trigg Beach with direct ocean views. It opens from 6:30am every day, and with a large covered outdoor area that welcomes dogs, it has become the default finish for coastal walks along Perth's northern beaches strip.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the big covered alfresco area but not inside the main dining room, kept on a leash at the table. Water bowls are usually put out in the outdoor area, so you generally will not need to carry one, though in summer it is worth having a backup in the bag. The atmosphere is deliberately casual: sandy feet and paws are the norm here.

The vibe

The menu leans healthy: smoothie bowls, smashed avo, poke bowls and fish tacos, with the ocean framed behind it all. It gets lively on weekend mornings when the brunch crowd lands, and there are no reservations, so if it is full you put your name down and walk the sand until a table clears. Weekday mornings are far more relaxed for a dog-in-tow breakfast.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along West Coast Drive in front, with a larger car park at Trigg Beach nearby. Both fill fast on sunny weekend mornings, so arrive early or come down the coastal path on foot or by bike and skip the parking fight entirely.

Close by with the dogs

The signed off-leash stretch of Trigg Dog Beach is on the doorstep, so a proper run on the sand pairs naturally with breakfast. Further up the coast, North Beach Dog Beach continues the off-leash run, and Bazil&Co. at Scarborough is a second dog-friendly breakfast option if you are working south.
