Canteen Trigg is a busy wholefoods cafe right on Trigg Beach at 364 West Coast Drive, open every day from 6.30am with a beachfront outdoor area that welcomes dogs before or after a run on the sand.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the large, covered outdoor seating area, but not inside the main dining room. Keep your dog on a leash while you're at the table. Water bowls are usually put out in the outdoor area, so you shouldn't need to bring your own, but it's worth carrying a bowl in summer just in case.

Known for. Healthy breakfast and brunch, think smoothie bowls and smashed avo, plus direct ocean views over Trigg Beach. It gets lively on weekends.

Getting there. Street parking runs along West Coast Drive right in front, with a larger car park at Trigg Beach nearby. It fills quickly on sunny weekend mornings, so get in early or walk down the coastal bike path instead.

Nearby with the dogs. Trigg Dog Beach is right on the doorstep, with a signed off-leash stretch for a run before or after your coffee.

Weekday mornings are calmer if you want an easy table with your dog. Weekend brunch service gets crowded fast.
