Bazil&Co. sits on the ground floor of the Scarborough Beach Resort on Landsborough Avenue, an Italian-inspired cafe and bakery a few steps from the Moreton Bay foreshore. The draw for dog owners is simple: waterfront outdoor tables, a big cabinet of cakes and cannoli, and a spot to land after a walk along the esplanade.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the alfresco tables out the front, on-leash. The air-conditioned indoor dining room is off limits to dogs other than assistance animals, which is standard under Queensland food-safety rules. Staff will usually bring out a water bowl, but bring your own if the day is hot. There is enough room to tuck a lead under a table well out of the walkway.

Good to know. Regulars come for the Segafredo Italian coffee and the cake and pastry cabinet, which is one of the larger ones on the Redcliffe peninsula. The bagels and all-day breakfast get consistent mentions too. It runs busy on weekend mornings, so an earlier arrival makes a table easier to get.

Getting there and parking. Free street parking runs along Landsborough Avenue, but it fills fast on weekend mornings. The resort side streets are a reliable fallback when the esplanade edge is full.

Nearby with the dogs. Scarborough Beach Park and the paved foreshore path sit directly across the road for an on-leash stroll before or after. The Queens Beach North off-leash dog beach on Flinders Parade is a short drive north if your dog needs a proper run.

Best as a weekday-morning or mid-morning stop when the alfresco tables are calm. Good for social dogs who are happy to settle beside a busy footpath.
