Drift Coffee Company (also trading as Drift Kitchen) is a Scandi-styled neighbourhood cafe on Landsborough Avenue, opposite the Scarborough oceanfront. It is one of the more dog-geared cafes on the peninsula, with a sheltered courtyard and treats made for dogs.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on-leash in the outdoor alfresco area and the dedicated shaded courtyard, which is sheltered from the wind. There is also a converted vintage bus seating area that dogs can use. The enclosed indoor dining room is for people only. Water bowls are provided, and the cafe often has pup cups and organic dog cookies from local makers.

Good to know. The specialty coffee and a full breakfast and brunch menu are the drawcards, with the dog treats a genuine extra rather than a gimmick. Weekends get very busy and can call for a booking, so mid-morning on a weekday is the calmer window.

Getting there and parking. Street parking runs along Landsborough Avenue and can be tight at peak weekend times; the adjacent side streets are the fallback.

Nearby with the dogs. The Scarborough foreshore pathway sits directly opposite for an on-leash walk with bay views. The Queens Beach North off-leash dog beach on Flinders Parade is a short drive north for a run on the sand.

Order a pup cup and grab a courtyard table out of the wind, then it is a straight walk across to the water afterwards.

Best mid-morning on a weekday or as an early weekend stop before the brunch rush. Good for dogs who enjoy a busy, social cafe.
