Tingalpa Creek Reserve

Tingalpa Creek Reserve at the end of Chadwell Street in Ransome swaps suburban lawns for mangrove-lined banks, wetland and thick bush along the creek. Dogs are welcome, but Brisbane City Council requires them on a leash at all times.

Lead rules

There is no off-leash section in this reserve, so the lead stays on for the whole walk. The bush is full of birdlife, which is another good reason to keep dogs close.

The walk

The tracks are flat gravel and dirt under a heavy native canopy, so most of the walk is shaded. The Creek Circuit is roughly 2 kilometres return, and the path between Sunnydene Road and Chadwell Street is about 950 metres each way.

It stays fairly quiet, especially on weekdays.

Getting started

Free parking is near the canoe ramp and picnic area at the end of Chadwell Street. That is also where you will find sheltered picnic tables, electric barbecues and bins, but no public toilets.

Carry water and a bowl for the dog on the bush tracks.

Pair it with

Chelsea Road Reserve offers more gentle bush walking in Ransome, and Lota Dog Park is the place for off-leash play.

The shade makes this a good summer option. It suits dogs that enjoy a slow sniff through the bush more than a run.
