Tarneit Lakes Walking Trails

Tarneit Lakes, off Rippleside Terrace, is an urban wetland ringed by sealed paths and busy with ducks and swans. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Wyndham City Council requires dogs to be on lead at all times on the paths and around the lake reserve, which is not a designated off-leash area. Keep dogs out of the water to protect the birdlife.

The walk

The paths are broad concrete, suited to prams and wheelchairs and mud-free in wet weather. Outdoor exercise stations are spaced along the way.

Bins sit at regular intervals and at the entry points. Shade is still developing, with young trees along parts of the path, so the open sections get hot in afternoon sun.

Bubblers are sparse, so bring water and a bowl. Street parking runs along the roads beside the surrounding estates.

When to go

Mornings suit it best, before the sun gets onto the open paths. It is a regular, friendly spot for local walkers and their dogs.
