Coast Park Path

The Coast Park Path runs along the Taperoo Foreshore beside Lady Gowrie Drive, a sealed shared path with Gulf St Vincent on one side and coastal dunes on the other. Dogs are welcome, but on the path itself they stay on a lead.

Leads, path and beach

City of Port Adelaide Enfield requires dogs to be on lead on footpaths and shared-use paths at all times. On the beach beside it, dogs can be off lead under effective control.

The exception is daylight saving, when dogs must be on lead on the beach between 10am and 8pm. Dogs are not allowed inside enclosed playgrounds.

The walk

The path is sealed the whole way, so it is easy on older dogs and fine after rain. Expect wide views over the gulf, native coastal planting and ships heading for the outer harbour.

The strip along Lady Gowrie Drive is exposed, with little shade. Toilets and dog bag stations sit along the foreshore, and there is car parking beside it on Lady Gowrie Drive.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run first, Roy Marten Fenced Dog Park has separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, plus shade, drinking fountains with dog bowls and free parking off Military Road. Coffee is close by at Ink Espresso @ The Fort.

Max: Check the calendar before the lead comes off on the sand. In daylight saving, dogs are on lead there from 10am to 8pm.

Mornings and evenings suit it best in summer, when the open path has almost no shelter from the sun.
