Ink Espresso

Ink Espresso runs out of 245 Fletcher Road, Largs Bay, a warehouse styled brunch spot that opens 6:30am weekdays and from 7am on weekends, closing at 2:30pm daily. It is the cafe locals walk to after a foreshore loop, which tells you most of what you need to know: hearty plates, strong coffee and a covered patio where dogs are part of the furniture.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on the covered patio, and stay out of the indoor area where the kids play corner sits. Staff will usually bring out a water bowl for visiting dogs, so bring a lead you are happy to loop around a table leg and settle in. On leash and settled beside the table is the deal, and the patio's covered tables make it workable even on the classic Adelaide seaside days of sun one minute, wind the next.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans hearty: eggs benedict, avo toast, burgers and a vanilla slice that has its own following. Weekends get busy with the brunch crowd, so grab an outdoor table early; weekday mornings are calmer if you want a quiet coffee with a dog underfoot. If the patio is full, there is a second Ink Espresso up the coast at The Fort in Taperoo.

Getting there and parking

On street parking is plentiful along Fletcher Road and the side streets, and the cafe sits an easy walk from the Largs Bay foreshore, so the natural pattern is beach walk first, brunch second. The 333 bus route along the coast also puts you close.

Close by with the dogs

Check the council signage along the sand for on leash zones before letting a dog off lead on the foreshore. For a fenced run, Roy Marten Fenced Dog Park at Taperoo and Adelaide Brighton Community Fenced Dog Park are both close. The suburb's other dog friendly stop is Cafe Froot along Semaphore Road, and the sibling Ink Espresso @ The Fort covers the northern end of the coast.
