Cafe Froot

Cafe Froot is a busy all-day cafe at 36B Semaphore Road, a short walk from the beach, and it opens from 6:30am every day of the week. Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front, which puts you right on the main strip for people-watching, and it is a practical brunch stop to bookend a Semaphore beach walk with the dog.

Reviewers rate the breakfast rolls, the corn fritters and the Sunday brunch, and the servings run generous, so do not underestimate the waffles or the eggs benedict. Coffee is solid, with long blacks doing steady work. Weekend mornings get very busy and you may wait for a table, which is worth factoring in with a dog in tow.

Pepsi: grab a footpath table early, then walk it off on the sand while the strip is still quiet. By 9am on a Sunday you will be queueing.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Semaphore Road but fills fast on weekends, so side streets such as Jagoe Street are usually the better bet. The old Semaphore train station area and local buses are close if you would rather leave the car at home and walk in with the dog.

Semaphore Beach and the grassed foreshore are a few minutes down the road; check council signage for current on-leash and dog-hour rules before letting anyone off lead.
