Milledge's Café

Milledge's is a warehouse-style cafe, distillery and bar on Todd Street in old Port Adelaide, and it doubles as one of the more relaxed dog-friendly stops in the Port. The draw for owners is straightforward: dogs are welcome inside the cafe space as well as out, which is unusual for the area and a genuine plus on a hot Adelaide afternoon.

The dog setup

Dogs can join you in the cafe-distillery space, not just on the footpath. Keep your dog on a lead and settled under the table so staff and other patrons can move around. Water is usually offered for dogs, but bring your own bowl if you are particular, and there is no pet fee.

The vibe

The venue sits in a converted warehouse among some of the oldest buildings in the Port, with a spacious, easygoing layout. Coffee and toasties carry the mornings, then the room leans into its cellar door side as the day goes on, pouring gin and other spirits from the on-site distillery.

Live music and evening events shift the space from cafe to bar later in the week. The daytime cafe wraps up early, around 2pm most days and 4pm on Friday and Saturday, so plan dog visits for the morning or lunch window.

The address is 8A Todd Street, Port Adelaide. Street parking runs along Todd Street and the surrounding side streets, though check the signage because time limits apply on this busy strip.

Close by with the dogs

The Port Adelaide waterfront and Hart's Mill precinct are a short stroll away for a walk either side of coffee. For another sit-down stop, the Port Admiral Hotel and the Salty Dog Seafood and Grill both welcome dogs, and the Exeter Fenced Dog Park is a few minutes away if your dog needs a proper run first.
