Tanunda Heritage Town Walk

Tanunda's heritage walk turns a leg stretch into a history lesson, covering about 2.5 km of level footpath past the Barossa town's 19th-century buildings. Dogs are welcome on lead the whole way.

The route follows public street footpaths through town, and The Barossa Council requires dogs to be on a lead there.

The walk

It is a self-guided route on sealed footpaths, flat and easy. Heritage markers tell the story of the early German settlers, and you pass churches including Tabor Lutheran.

Getting started

Tanunda Recreation Park on Elizabeth Street makes a practical start, with parking, toilets, water and free poo bags. Public bins sit along the main precinct.

Pair it with

Begin or end with a lap of Tanunda Recreation Park, then settle in at Rehn Bier Brewery.

Street trees give only partial shade, so summer walks are best done early. The flat, even surface suits older dogs and anyone who wants a short, easy stroll with something to look at.
