Tanunda Recreation Park

Tanunda Recreation Park is the Barossa town's main sporting ground, close to the centre of Tanunda, and a handy place for an on-lead lap among ovals and old trees. Think park walk rather than bushwalk.

Lead rules

The Barossa Council expects dogs on a lead and under effective control here. Keep them out of the enclosed playground areas, where dogs are not allowed.

The walk

Paths around the ovals are a mix of unsealed track and open grass, with mature trees along the way. It is easy going and suits a routine walk rather than a big outing.

Water and shade

There is drinking water on site, and the big trees and picnic shelters give you somewhere to sit out of the sun. Bins, accessible public toilets and plenty of free parking around the grounds round it out.

Make a day of it

Tanunda is well set up for a stop after the walk. Try Darling's Food With Passion Cafe in the morning, or head to Rehn Bier Brewery later in the day.

When to go

With water, shade and seating on hand, it is a low-fuss lap that suits dogs of any age, including older ones.
