Schuster Park

Schuster Park follows Tallebudgera Creek on the Tallebudgera side, reached on foot by a bridge from Nineteenth Avenue in Elanora. Tidal water, mangroves and wide grassy fields make it a varied walk, but the rules change across the park.

Leads and the off-lead area

City of Gold Coast requires dogs on a lead except in the designated off-leash exercise areas on the open fields. Dogs are prohibited in the conservation zones on the peninsula and in playgrounds, and must be leashed in the picnic and beach areas.

The walk

Concrete paths, a boardwalk and natural tracks follow the creek past mangrove fringes and birdlife. Plenty of mature trees and a small rotunda give shade.

Drinking fountains are near the bridge on the Elanora side. Bins and bag dispensers are at the main entrances but scarce on the interior tracks.

Max: Read the signs as you go. Off-lead fields, on-lead picnic spots and no-dog conservation zones sit close together here.

Parking is at both the Nineteenth Avenue entry in Elanora and the Heather Street entry in Tallebudgera.

Make a day of it

Tallebudgera Island Dog Off Leash Area is close by for a swim, and Spoon And Bean Cafe in Elanora suits a coffee.

It suits active dogs that need both a run and a good sniff, as long as you keep an eye on the zone signs.
