The Swanbourne Beach Foreshore Path is the paved coastal path that runs above the sand in Swanbourne, part of the longer run of paths between Cottesloe and Floreat. Walk it on lead, then drop down to the signed dog beach for off-lead time.
The path
It is a sealed dual-use path, so expect bikes and runners, with dunes on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. There is no fixed start or finish, so pick a turnaround that suits your dog.
Leads and the off-lead beach
The City of Nedlands keeps dogs on lead on the path and access tracks. Off-lead exercise is allowed on the designated Swanbourne dog beach areas, but not around the surf club precinct or playgrounds.
Pepsi: Save the zoomies for the dog beach, then rinse off the salt when you get home.
Make a day of it
Grab a coffee at Kilo Cafe or head inland to the Allen Park Bushland Trails.
There is little shade on the coast, so go early or late in summer and carry water.
